Description

DETAILS

This is one of my ships from EVE Online

The 808 Heaven my Thorax class cruiser.  The reason why I don't have full Prototype Gauss Guns is because my power grid couldn't handle it (I'm assuming my character's lacking in skill levels and implants somewhere).  The grid could handle anything smaller though, so I just put a spare blaster I had laying around in one of my stations to derp-assist the drones against smaller, faster enemies trying to get their swarm on with me.

I never knew there was some part of me that was into collecting star ships until I started playing this game xD

2013 PERSONAL GAME REVIEW: "EVE ONLINE"

Play Time: 3 years.

EVE is a massive, highly complex, pay-to-play (P2P) MMORPG.  The learning curve for this game is so steep that it isn't surprising some players rely on any number of the many sites and videos dedicated to EVE to figure out what they can do and how to go about getting good at it.  Some people (gamers and non-gamers alike) can find EVE to be intimidating, frustrating, or downright boring while others don't.  Personally, I find it relaxing

You have a good chance of liking the game if you fall into one or more of these categories:  You have money to spend; You love Sci-Fi; You're looking for something different from mainstream sci-fi games; You want to be a part of large-scale events involving space ships; You want to invest time in making a unique character in a future setting; You like to collect space ships.

Things I like about EVE are:

:bulletblack: The graphics are amazing. The level of detail in character customization, ship detail, and outer space environments are fantastic.
:bulletblack: There are many interesting professions (in PvE and PvP) you can take up.
:bulletblack: There are many ships you can get.  Customization is plentiful and when you buy weapons, you can actually see them in action on the outside of your ship.
:bulletblack: Your character improves—in real timeby studying skills from manuals.  Even when you log off the game, your character will continue "studying" while you're gone.
:bulletblack: IT'S HUGE.  There are hundreds (if not thousands) of solar systems, asteroid fields, ruins, stations, worm holes, and who knows what else, which are available to players.  How many players are on EVE at any given moment? Easily a few thousand.  This game has been around for many years and is still going strong.

Issues I had with EVE:

:bulletred:  It's not free.
:bulletred:  PvE missions don't have enough variety and the mission agents don't speak.

BOTTOM LINE: I give EVE Online 8/10.  It's different; definitely not as exciting as what I'm used to.  But I do enjoy how good it looks and I appreciate the level of complexity and detail the game has to offer (along with the effort put into it) enough to pay and to play it once in a while.

I recommend you get a powerful gaming PC before trying EVE.  You can't fully appreciate it
or any contemporary game worth time and moneyunless you can play it with graphics settings maxed out.

I do reviews for anyone who might be curious about what I thought of the game that inspired the screenshot on this page and what I had to back it up with. If you disagree with anything in the review, that's fine; that's your opinion. If you want to post why you disagree, don't be rude about it or it won't be shown.
